Aris Calder (he/they) is an author and artist based in Virginia, USA. They moved frequently, living for nearly a decade in the United Kingdom where Calder founded, and was editor of, their school’s student-run newsletter.

Calder is currently writing The Margin Project, a dystopian sci-fi novel set nearly 170 years in Earth’s future where protagonist Kai Evlett, a twenty-something rebel, and her companions fight to evade the Umbra Net, an authoritarian government looking to stamp out the remaining pockets of rebellion. While on the hunt for experiences that inspire their poetry and fantasy worldbuilding, Calder volunteers at their local library, bakes, and practices Krav Maga. While in school, they chase their passions in literature, music and filmmaking.
